SSS (aka Sam Smith, former drummer for the now defunct Portland Spacerock trio No Go Know) began making four-track recordings in 1999. His music, often comprised mostly of acoustic instruments, makes use of layers and polyrhythms to create a chorus of hypnotizing voices on top of driving rock drums. His newest album (This and Not That, 2010) combines this signature use of driving polyrhythms with a new found sense of melody and song structure.
